As our newest custom crafting plugin, Cooking is similar to skills like Smeltery and Tannery, in that players may discover new recipes by experimenting with creating and preparing different foods at custom Cooking workstations. Depending on the combination of ingredients and the station used, players may improve the effectiveness of their food in various ways.
Taste Preferences
Every player has a random set of taste preferences that do not change. By eating foods prepared with the Cooking skill, players will see whether or not the food they just ate satisfies one or more of their taste preferences: Sweet, Spicy, Sour, Bitter, Savory, or Salty. Food that satisfies a player's particular taste preferences will improve its effectiveness even more.
Cutting Board
The first workstation that all Cooks will need is the Cutting Board - simply a Crafting Table with an Oak Pressure Plate on top. Right-clicking the Cutting Board will open the GUI to place your Main Ingredients, Secondary Ingredients, and Spices. Don't worry about figuring out which of those categories your ingredients fall into - simply click on the ingredient in your inventory, and it will auto-place it in the correct section of the Cutting Board! If an item is not placing, then it cannot be used as a Cooking ingredient.
All ingredients must be prepared at a Cutting Board before they can be placed in one of the other three workstations: the Cooking Pot, the Oven, and the Stove:
Cooking Pot
Made by placing a tripwire hook over a filled cauldron over a furnace, the Cooking Pot is used to finalize raw ingredients that have been prepared at the Cutting Board. Cooking food in a Cooking Pot will add more saturation value to the dish.
Oven
Made by placing an iron trapdoor over a furnace over an open flame, the Oven is used to finalize raw ingredients that have been prepared at the Cutting Board. Cooking food in an Oven will add more experience to the dish.
Stove
Made by placing an iron trapdoor over an open flame, the Stove is used to finalize raw ingredients that have been prepared at the Cutting Board. Cooking food on a Stove will add more hunger satisfaction to the dish.
